What is Gabb Wireless?

Gabb Wireless provides kid-safe phones and smartwatches. Their devices focus primarily on basic phone features – talk and text – and don’t allow for internet access, social media, or access to an app store. Gabb devices are good options for younger children but don’t offer some access teens (and their parents) would eventually like.

What does Gabb offer?

Gabb offers a kid’s smartwatch and two phone options for kids – the Gabb Phone and Gabb Phone Plus. The Gabb Phone Plus is a slightly larger, and more powerful smartphone. Gabb uses it’s own network; however, it’s connected via Verizon.

Parents purchase the device at a fixed cost, where longer contracts mean bigger discounts on the phone cost. In addition to the phone cost, there is a monthly Gabb subscription service fee, and additional fees for additional services. More on this below.

Is Gabb right for my kid?

Gabb made their phones specifically for kids, with only essential features. All devices have no internet access – meaning no app store or social media. However, they do offer GPS tracking, a Gabb kid-safe music app (additional fees apply), and some parent-approved 3rd party apps.

The lack of internet access makes it easier for parents to know their child isn’t finding inappropriate content, or streaming videos & music you don’t want them to listen to.

However, the lack of internet not only makes Gabb difficult for parents of older children, it also limits the phone’s ability to ‘grow’ with features as their child grows into new responsibilities.

How much does Gabb cost?

Gabb Watch 2 – $149.99 + $14.99/ month
Gabb Phone – $149.99 + $24.99/ month
Gabb Phone Pro – $199.99 + $29.99/ month

Gabb Phone Pro has features the other phone doesn’t, such as image and group texting – though this can be added with additional fees. In addition to more features, the Pro is also a slightly better device.

Features can be added for additional monthly fees, such as Gabb music streaming & a warranty. Longer-term contracts can get additional savings on device costs.

Internet	No. There is no internet, internet browser, or app store.
App Store	No. Gabb phones are pre-loaded with roughly 15 essential apps - like a camera, map, calendar, etc. The Gabb Phone Plus can have some pre-approved 3rd party apps that parents can load onto their child's device.
GPS Tracking	Yes. The MyGabb app has a GPS location tracking feature to use on the phone.
Screen Time	No. With no internet, social media, or expansive app store, Gabb anticipates less screen time as a result. There are no specific screen time rules/schedules.
Approve Contacts	Yes. Approve all contacts. Only approved contacts can text or call.
Monitor Texts	No. Gabb doesn't monitor text messages, to check text messages, parents must look at the phone. Text messages can't be deleted. Group texts and image texts are only available on Gabb Phone Plus, or with additional fees on Gabb Phone.
